Journalists & Whistleblowers: a dynamic society to fight corruption

At the session Professor of Law Eduardo Bertoni from Argentina will present a paper on source protection commissioned by UNESCO. Leon Willems, Senior Advisor of Free Press Unlimited and co-founder of Publeaks in the Netherlands will moderate the session.

Topics that will be discussed:

  • How can journalism do a better job to protect sources in the advent of the digital siege that quality journalism suffers from;
  • Whistle blowers end up in jail and are being discredited even though their public disclosure serves Public Interest;
  • Journalists are being legally harassed in 'shoot the messenger' lawsuits, compromising the People's Right to Know.

Mariateresa Ronderos: investigative journalist from Colombia, one of the investigative journalists of 'Proyecto Miroslava'

Eni Mulia: director of media development organization PPMN from Indonesia, driving force behind Indonesialeaks

Anna Myers: director and co-founder of Whistleblowing International Network, working from Scotland to improve legal protection for Public Disclosure
