Freelance Dialogue Partner and Project Implementer

Free Press Unlimited is currently looking for a Dialogue Partner Relation and Project Implementer, who will be working within a running programme for Syria, titled Cohesion through Independent and Inclusive Media (CIIM).

This enables them to assess their own living conditions, influence these and make the right decisions. Press freedom and freedom of information are vital for gathering and spreading reliable, unbiased information. Media plays a crucial role in providing people free and unrestricted access to information that can help them develop and monitor the authorities. We want to make and keep objective news and information available to everyone, especially to people in countries without or with limited (press) freedom.

Free Press Unlimited is currently looking for a Dialogue Partner and Project Implementer.
 

Objective of the assignment

This freelance expert will be working in the position of Dialogue Partner and Project Implementing Officer for media cohesion projects for Syrian media. In this role you will be managing media and advocacy, and media dialogue project implementation in a holistic and complete way. From inception, to implementation, to monitoring, measuring impact and reporting. As an expert you will be building on achieved results by expanding networks, opportunities and interventions with diverse actors in the Syrian media and CSO sector. You will also be responsible for reviewing and supporting partners’ implementation plans.

The best candidate will be working within a running programme for Syria, titled Cohesion through Independent and Inclusive Media (CIIM). The partners see that greater inclusivity, accountability and trust within Syrian society are the key to more sustainability and peace.
 

Responsibilities

  • Works along strategy and sustainable goals with the partners;

  • Helps assessing ideas and proposals, and keep all aligned as smooth as possible while aiming to attain the expected results by patterns;

  • The project implementer keeps an overview of all activities under objective of dialogue, monitors the planning and progress, makes sure that the protocols are implemented correctly and ensures it is designed and implemented in close coordination with the partners;

  • Keep compliance respected and checked;

  • Takes care of uniformity of protocols, methodology and quality control throughout the whole project (integrating inclusion, security, advocacy);

  • Ensures the production of reports, evaluation, analysis, feedback, recommendations are included in the project cycle;

  • Helps developing strong, implementable and clear proposals with and by partners;

  • Builds and maintains relations with partners and stakeholders;

  • Holds monthly consultations at organisational level (possibly dedicated fixed reserved time) and on demand with individual members of the various organisations;

  • Performs a periodical full review of the partners and notes progress and difficulties;

  • Supports and coaches partners on the implementation of dialogue activities;

  • Report on the results of the capacity building or event impact and give recommendations to the participants, the partner organisation and Free Press Unlimited;

  • Help monitor, manage, and assess project budgets (financial and narratives), and gather indicators of progress and impact;

  • Check and verify proper disbursement of projects budget and accurate financial reporting;

  • Give feedback, advice and offer solutions to partners on issues related to finance, planning and strategic goal achievement;

  • Signal bottlenecks in processes and provide input for more efficient processes and methods;

  • Perform general (administrative) project tasks where required;

  • Signal trends in press freedom and analyze violations against journalists and media;

  • Contribute to desk research on actors, sensitivities sharing, validation of programme, identifying actors (mapping), and support with cultural and language translation, facilitation.
     

Requirements

  • Work in both English and Arabic (spoken and written);

  • Communicate and transfer concepts, project designs, mission and vision to partners, stakeholders, experts;

  • Plan and forecast activities and its mitigation;

  • Read, implement, and forecast budgets;

  • High level experience in a project/partner management preferably in the Middle East North Africa region and/or media support;

  • Experience with donors compliance;

  • Good relation-building and partnering skills;

  • Knowledge of the media sector in MENA and preferably the Syrian context;

  • Accurate mindset, self-critical and service driven;

  • High level of integrity and security sensitivity;

  • Good leadership skills;

  • Proactive mentality;

  • Able to receive and give constructive feedback;

  • Affinity with journalism, media and human rights is a must.
