By war violence, millions of people in 2014 not only lost their homes, but also their access to reliable information. In many countries, leaders and armed groups strengthened their grip on the media. It is an alarming development. Freedom of the press ended up worldwide in a dramatic downward spiral.

Therefore we are proud that we have managed to put the need for press freedom and reliable information flows high on the international agenda. This is crucial for a broad-based approach to the global lack of press freedom and freedom of expression.

And there was more good news. For example that our world youth journal Wadada was launched in Sierra Leone and Bangladesh. Read this, and much more in our Annual Report 2014.
