The Board of the ‘Geuzenpenning’ Foundation grants Free Press Unlimited with the Geuzenpenning 2015. We are delighted with this award and appreciation for our work. We see it as a confirmation of the need to fight for press freedom and freedom of expression anywhere in the world.

And above all, it is an encouragement for all those people who are being supported by Free Press Unlimited. Courageous journalists, who provide people in their country - and us – with information, often from the most unfree societies in the world.

The 'Geuzenpenning' (a medal) is awarded to honor people and organizations who are committed to improve human rights and who oppose dictatorship, discrimination and racism. The award ceremony will take place on Friday, March 13th, 2015 in the Great Church of Vlaardingen, the Netherlands.

Lilianne Ploumen, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, will present the Geuzenpenning award: "Worldwide, press freedom is under pressure. The Netherlands therefore remains committed to support freedom of expression, both offline and online. Free Press Unlimited is a reliable partner in this field and I am proud to present them the Geuzenpenning."
