Currently, Wadada News for Kids connects twenty countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Each year the network recognizes and celebrates the importance of the work by organizing an awards competition for their news items. This year thirteen entries will compete for the prestigious WADADA News for Kids Award 2018.
New WADADA program in El Salvador
Wadada News for Kids is initiated by Free Press Unlimited. In many countries children have no voice and no place in news media. But still societies expect them to grow up as informed and critical citizens. To erase this contradiction, Wadada News for Kids, an international radio- and television network, produces information programmes for kids and youth. More than 100 million kids and their families all over the world are reached by its broadcasts.
Competing are items submitted by directors from Zambia, Ukraine, Nepal, México, Myanmar, Ghana, El Salvador, Egypt, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina. This year for the first time, News for Kids was produced in El Salvador. This means the WADADA News for Kids network is still growing. Following our tradition, we organize the awards ceremony and screening of all items during the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam. This will take place on October 22nd. from 16:30-17:30 in the ‘Cinekeet’ at the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam.
