In 2018, the Dutch Postcode Lottery contributes to the work of Free Press Unlimited with €900.000. With this contribution we can develop new innovative media projects that support journalists worldwide and promote press freedom.
“We are incredibly happy with the support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery, which shows their commitment to the work of Free Press Unlimited. Press Freedom is very much under pressure and the increase of the continueous contribution allows us to support even more journalists throughout the world" says Leon Willems, director of Free Press Unlimited.

Since April 2011, Free Press Unlimited is supported by the Dutch Postcode Lottery (Nationale Postcode Loterij). Earlier cooperation was initiated and realised by Free Voice, one of the organisations that constitutes Free Press Unlimited since the merger in 2011. Free Voice received €1.000.000 in 2011 from the Postcode Lottery for its work in 2010 and a total of €9.1 million between 1997 and 2015.
The Postcode Lottery was founded in 1989 to support charity organisations that strive towards building a more just and sustainable world. Thanks to the 2.9 million participants the proceeds of the Postcode Lottery grew to more than € 715 million in the past year. Because the lottery donates half of the proceeds to good causes, this contribution also grew, with almost € 16 million . The more than € 357 million that the Postcode Lottery donates to charities this year is divided among 112 organisations. In total, the lottery has donated more than € 5.4 billion to people and nature since 1989.
Through publicity as well as financial and moral support, the Dutch Postcode Lottery reaffirms the commitment to the work of Free Press Unlimited.
