Once again, Free Press Unlimited is looking for journalists whose work demonstrates courage, perseverance and a strong commitment to independent journalism. The Free Press Awards recognise outstanding journalists in two categories: Most Resilient Journalist and Newcomer of the Year. Nominations for the 2026 edition are now open.

Last year, the awards recognised two journalists who continued their work under extreme circumstances. Azerbaijani journalist Ulviyya Guliyeva received the Most Resilient Journalist Award, while Sudanese journalist AlMigdad Hassan was named Newcomer of the Year. Their stories show the courage and commitment these awards seek to recognise.

Do you know a journalist whose work deserves recognition? Nominate them for a Free Press Award 2026.
